Volunteer Opportunity: Finance Committee Member (CPA)

Food & Beverage Manitoba (FabMB) is seeking a volunteer Finance Committee Member to support the financial oversight and strategic direction of Manitoba’s growing food and beverage manufacturing sector.

This is an opportunity to contribute your expertise to a high-impact, industry-facing non-profit organization that supports workforce development, innovation, and sector growth across the province.

About the Role

The Finance Committee provides oversight on financial management, budgeting, audit processes, and risk management, and offers guidance to the Board of Directors.

As a Committee Member, you will:

  • Review quarterly financial statements and forecasts
  • Provide guidance on financial controls, risk, and compliance
  • Support annual budgeting and audit processes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of financial policies and governance
  • Advise on strategic financial decisions as the organization grows

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 5 meetings per year (virtual/mixed in-person).
  • Occasional email review/input between meetings.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates who bring:

  • CPA designation (required).
  • Experience with non-profit financial management and governance.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, controls, and audit processes.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to advise at a governance level.

Assets (not required):

  • Experience in the food and beverage manufacturing sector.
  • Familiarity with government-funded programs or sector councils.
