Special Communication regarding COVID-19

Dear Valued Members:

In light of recent developments in the spread of COVID-19 and direction from Manitoba public health officials, Food & Beverage Manitoba believes it is incumbent upon us to carefully assess all risks and to do our part to flatten the curve and reduce the spread of COVID-19.

As a result, we have postponed the following events:

  • April 17th – BRC Risk Assessment
  • April 28th – HACCP Implementation
  • April 30th – Traceability Workshop
  • May 13th – Industry Day & AGM

At this time, we will move forward with our regular business operations including Food Handler training and various members meetings. We are continuing to implement recommended best practices in protecting valued employees, members, and all those with whom we interact throughout Manitoba. The hygiene measures recommended for all are to wash their hands frequently with a hydroalcoholic solution or with water and soap; avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth if you haven’t washed your hands; avoid joining hands and hugs; when coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with your arm to reduce the spread of germs. If you use a tissue, throw it out as soon as possible and wash your hands afterwards. Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority.

We encourage you to keep informed on prevention and find printable posters by visiting Manitoba Health, Health Canada and the World Health Organizations.

We will continue to monitor this situation very closely and re-evaluate future event plans based on prevailing conditions and expert advice. For those registered for postponed events, we are working to secure alternate dates and venues for the events. We will notify all members as this information becomes available via website and eblasts.

Thank you for your understanding.
